 Zoo Rules

  • Amur tiger - Fred CateThe Indianapolis Zoo is a non-smoking environment.  Visitors are required to extinguish all smoking materials before entering the grounds.
  • For the health and safety of our animal and plant collection, food and beverages cannot be brought into the Zoo. Visitors may dine at one of our food locations or bring their lunch to enjoy outside the main entrance in the picnic area.
  • Visitors should not feed the animals on Zoo grounds. Special feeding demonstrations occur daily.
  • Radios, roller blades, bicycles, skateboards, scooters and balloons are NOT permitted inside the Zoo.  
  • For the safety of animals and visitors, Zoo visitors should stay on the pathways and off of the rockwork, fences and railings.  Parents, please do not place your children on top of rocks, fences and railings!
  • All attractions are crowd, animal and weather dependent.
  • Personal photography at the Zoo is permitted; however, please do not block the pathways with tripods or other obstructions.  For information on commercial photography, click here.
  • Shirts and shoes must be worn at all times.
  • Visitors are not permitted to pick or otherwise damage the plants on Zoo grounds.
  • Due to quarantine restrictions, no pets are allowed on grounds; guide and service dogs are accepted.
  • Weapons are prohibited on Zoo grounds, including firearms.
  • The Zoo regrets that it cannot offer any rain checks or refunds.
