Directions to the Zoo
Traffic News as of March 6, 2009 - There is a construction site at the corner of Washington and West Streets (the new Marriott Hotel complex), and depending on the time of day, there can be delays for eastbound traffic exiting from the Zoo caused by narrowing of the lanes. This is a problem primarily during rush hour on weekdays. If you're heading north, we recommend that you turn west when you exit the Zoo and use White River Parkway to go north, cutting east on New York or 10th Streets. If you are heading south, we recommend that you follow the same procedure, but cut south from New York or 10th onto Capitol or another north/south artery. The Indianapolis Zoo is located approximately one mile west of the downtown at 1200 West Washington Street. Below is a simplified map of Indianapolis and directions from the north, south, east, and west of the city of Indianapolis.
