What's Blooming Now - July 2, 2012

THEY’RE STILL BLOOMING!

Despite the heat and drought, and thanks to the outstanding and tireless efforts of the Zoo's wonderful horticulture staff, you can still see plenty of gorgeous blooms in White River Gardens. Here’s a quick overview:

Cutting GardenThe Cutting garden has plants like Echinacea ‘Coconut Lime’ and this narrow leaved Coleus, all ready to go in a vase.

ALLEN CLOWES WATER GARDENS
Clowes Water GardenThe beds around the pools are starting to look great with the pinks and greens of Penisetum 'Fireworks', Angelonia 'Zebra' and Zinnia 'Lime Queen,' backed here by the foliage of buttercup squash.

VIRGINIA FAIRBANKS SUN GARDEN

BouganvillaWater lilyIn a pot on the stream pool plaza you’ll be stunned by the flaming pink bracts (modified leaves) of Bougainvillea. Then turn around to the pool itself to see the gorgeous water lilies (and maybe a frog or turtle, if you’re lucky!).
