Put a Tiger On Your Trunk to Support the Zoo
Are you a king of the road, a tiger in traffic? Show everyone behind you that you're a proud supporter of the
Indianapolis Zoo and its animal conservation mission by putting a tiger on your trunk! The Zoo began offering
the new Indianapolis Zoo license plate in 2012 through the
Indiana BMV. The cost is $40,
and $25 goes directly to support the Zoo. These plates aren't just for cars
— you can get one for your trucks and motorcycles, too.
When you renew your vehicle
license plate, you'll have the option to select this stylish new design and
even personalize it. Whether you're a WILD1 or you like to GOWILD, you can
choose the plate that suits you and know that the money helps pay for food
and medicine for the animals in our care!
Once you've got the tiger on your trunk, we want to know
where you're taking it. Whether it's around the corner or across
the country, snap a picture of you and your plate during your
travels and send it to
membership@indyzoo.com.
The Indianapolis Zoo is a nonprofit organization that receives no
direct tax support, so contributions from programs like this are essential
to supporting the Zoo’s conservation mission. That mission is critical to
many animal species, none more so than the Amur tiger, which is down to only
a few hundred animals left in the wild and about an equal number in human
care.
The Zoo's
Facebook followers provided the feedback that
helped us select the beautiful tiger image for our license
plate. The Zoo has three Amur tigers currently residing in the Tiger Forest
exhibit.
