Animal Art Adventures
A penguin Picasso. A walrus Warhol. A dolphin Dali. The Zoo has lots of
talented animal artists who can create a one-of-a-kind work of art just for
you during one of our Animal Art Adventures! Choose from one of our four
Animal Art Adventure programs: Dolphin,
Elephant,
Penguin or Pinniped (seal,
sea lion or walrus). These special experiences take you and up to three
guests behind the scenes to meet one of our animal artists that will then
create a personalized painting just for you to take home. You can even choose the colors!
We are now taking reservations for
2013!

Dolphins are among the world's most intelligent animals. They
are also the newest animal artists at the Indianapolis Zoo! A
Dolphin Art Adventure will take you and your guests poolside
before the Dolphin Show to meet one of our dolphin artists that
will create a painting for you to take home. Participants will
meet a dolphin and learn about some of things that make this
dolphin unique in our pod as well as help choose the color
palette for the painting. This program takes place at 10am
on Saturdays.

Elephants certainly are big — they're the largest land
mammals on Earth — and while they may look cumbersome, they're
actually quite agile. Their prehensile trunks also allow them to
some amazing work with an artist's brush! An Elephant Art Adventure will take you and your guests behind the scenes to meet one of our
elephant artists. Participants will see the elephant barn, meet an
elephant, learn about some of things that make this elephant
unique in our herd and help choose the color palette for the
painting. This
program takes place at 2pm on Saturdays. To reserve your
adventure, please call our Adventure Line at 317-630-2000.
Talk about happy feet — our penguins can not only keep the
beat, they can also create beautiful art! A Penguin Art
Adventure will take you and your guests behind the scenes to
meet one of our penguin artists that will create a painting just
for you to take home. Participants will go behind the scenes in
the penguin area of Oceans, meet a penguin, learn about some of
things that make penguins unique in the bird world and help
choose the color palette for the painting. This program takes
place at 11:30am on Saturdays, April 13-Aug. 31. To reserve your
adventure, please call our Adventure Line at 317-630-2000.
Can
you name our fin-footed friends? They are scientifically known
as pinnipeds — coming from the Latin words "pinna," meaning fin,
and "pedis," meaning foot. We have three animals in the pinniped family, including our seals, sea lions and walrus.
A Pinniped Art Adventure will take you and your guests behind the scenes to meet one of our
animal artists who will create a painting just for you to take
home. Participants will meet a seal, sea lion or walrus, learn about some of
things that make that animal unique in the group and help choose the
color palette for the painting. (Please note that one of the
three animals will be chosen for your adventure. Also,
we do not accept special requests for the pinniped used.) This
program takes place at 12:30pm on Saturdays in March, April,
May, September, and October. To reserve your adventure, please
call our Adventure Line at 317-630-2000.
