a database in a secure environment at our data center.
Subject to the exceptions described below, we will never share, sell, or
rent individual personal information to anyone without your advance
permission or unless ordered by a court of law. Information submitted to us
is only available to employees managing this information for purposes of
contacting you or sending you e-mails based on your request for information.
GATHERING AND USE OF INFORMATION
We collect personal information from our visitors only on a voluntary basis.
We do not require this information for customers to obtain access to our
Sites. However, in order to participate in some of the programs offered on
the Sites (including sweepstakes or contests, voting and polling activities,
and other interactive areas of the Sites) you may be asked to voluntarily

("Personal Information"). Occasionally, we may also ask for Personal

Social Security Number, sex, race, national origin or disability. By
using the Sites and providing us with your Personal Information, you consent
to our use of such information as described in this Statement. You may
always refuse to provide your Personal Information, and this may lead to our
inability to provide you with certain services. We or our business
partners may also collect information that is anonymous, such as your IP
number (a number used to identify your computer on the Internet) or the type
of browser you are using ("Anonymous Information"), through the use of
cookies or by other means. Anonymous Information is purely statistical
in nature and cannot be tied to you. We hope that, by using Anonymous
Information, we can update the Sites to make them more useful to you and
other users. We reserve the right to maintain, update, disclose or
otherwise use Anonymous Information, without limitation, including use for
industry reporting purposes. The Sites may combine information that
you voluntarily give us with information provided by third parties and
affiliates.
We may use your Personal Information for the following purposes: to
process your registration or orders; to administer your account; to
administer and improve the Sites and related services; to notify you of our
or third party products, services, promotional events or special offers that
maybe of interest to you; to provide Internet security; and to meet legal
requirements. We may work with our business partners who may perform
certain functions on our behalf, such as fulfilling orders, sending email
messages, managing data, processing credit card payments or providing
customer service. These business partners have access to your Personal
Information only to the extent necessary to perform these specific functions
and may not use it for any other purpose. Other than for the specific
purposes set forth in this Statement, we will not disclose your Personal
Information unless we obtain your prior consent or are legally required to
do so. We may use third party advertising companies and/or content
licensors to place ads on the Site and to place our ads on other web sites.
These companies may use Anonymous Information about your visits to this and
other web sites to provide advertisements on the Sites and other sites about
goods and services that may be of interest to you. If we are involved
in the sale of a substantial portion of our business assets, Anonymous or
Personal Information may be among the transferred assets.
COMMUNICATIONS WITH US
The Sites may have features where you can submit information to us.
Such submissions may be made public. Requests for service, support or
information may be forwarded as needed to best respond to a specific
request. We may retain e-mails and other information sent to us for
our internal administrative purposes, and to help us to serve customers
better. When you send an email or submit information to us through the
Sites, you are communicating with us electronically. You thereby
consent to receive communications from us electronically. We will
communicate with you by email or by posting notices on the Sites. All
agreements, notices, disclosures and other communications that we provide to
you electronically satisfy any legal requirement that such communications be
in writing.
COMMUNICATIONS FROM US: SERVICE UPDATES, SPECIAL OFFERS
We offer you the option to receive information about our organization,
related products, services and special events via our promotional
newsletter. Only those people who ask to be added to our promotional
newsletter list or who ask for information from us will receive e-mail
communications from us. We also offer an "Opt-out or Unsubscribe" feature
that allows you, at any time, to have us discontinue e-mail communications.
We may also communicate with you to provide requested services and for
account-related issues via e-mail, phone or regular mail.
AUTOMATIC DATA COLLECTION
The Sites have features that automatically collect information from you to
deliver content specific to your interests, to honor your preferences, and
to diagnose problems. This information assists us in creating sites
that will serve the needs of our users. We use "cookies," a piece of
data stored on your hard drive containing information about you.
Cookies benefit you by requiring login only once, thereby saving time while
on the Sites. Most browsers accept cookies automatically, but can be
configured not to accept them or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. We
do not extract personal information in this process nor do we provide this
information to third parties. We also do not contact you. Cookies allow us
to customize your user interface to speed up the navigation process and to
make the site experience more efficient. If your browser is configured to
reject cookies, you may not be able to utilize some features of the Sites.
Some of our publishers or sponsors may use cookies on the Site in
announcements. However, we have no access to or control over these
publishers’ or sponsors’ cookies; we urge you to read their privacy policies
for information.
LINKS TO THIRD-PARTY WEBSITES
To better serve you, we may provide you with external links to other sites
which we believe can offer you useful information and services. Any
external Web sites to which we provide links are subject to their own
privacy guidelines, and you will need to review those guidelines. We
have no control over or responsibility for the privacy practices of any
external sites. Additionally, we use third-party technology to serve
advertisements to you and allow third parties to access their own cookies on
your computer. Use of cookies by third parties is subject to their own
privacy guidelines and not this Statement.
PRIVACY OF CHILDREN
We encourage parents and guardians to be aware of and participate in their
children's online activities. We strictly adhere to the Children's
Online Privacy Protection Act and will not knowingly collect, use or
disclose Personal Information from any child under the age of 13 in any
manner that violates this law. If a parent or guardian becomes aware
that his or her child has provided us with personally identifiable
information without the parent or guardian’s consent, that parent or
guardian should contact us at privacy@indyzoo.com. If we determine
that we have unknowingly collected personal information of children under
the age of 13, we will immediately delete such information and any accounts
believed to be held by children under 13.
To report use by a child under age 13, please contact us at the e-mail
address listed above, and include the following information:
• Name of the child you are reporting;
• The child’s username or alias he or she is using;
• E-mail address used by the child;
• Actual age of the child;
• Your relationship to the child;
• Your basis for making the report.
LOG FILES
The Indianapolis Zoological Society, Inc. uses standard website server log
files. This includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type,
internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type,
date/time stamp, and number of clicks to analyze trends, administer the
Sites, track aggregate user's movement, and gather broad demographic
information for analytical use.
HOW COLLECTED INFORMATION IS PROTECTED
We use state-of-the-art technology to protect your data from unauthorized
third parties. Currently, we use Secure Socket Layer (SSL) software to
protect your personal data. SSL encrypts personal information as it is
transmitted over the Internet. We use firewalls between our internal
network and the Web to allow only clearly defined traffic to access specific
services. The Sites are registered with a site identification
authority that enables your browser to confirm our identity before you send
any information. During the registration process, we use a server ID
(or a digital certificate) together with industry-standard 128-bit SSL
encryption to protect sensitive Member information, if any, during both
transmission and storage. You can confirm the presence of security measures
when transmitting data through your security-enabled browser by looking for:
A URL beginning with “https://” rather than “http://”. If you’re using
Microsoft Internet Explorer® or Mozilla Firefox®, a closed lock icon at the
bottom of the browser window.
CHANGES AND UPDATES TO THE PRIVACY GUIDELINES
The Sites' content and features may be updated, revised, modified and
supplemented. We reserve the right to change the information, features,
products, promotions, disclosures and disclaimers at any time. Changes to
these privacy guidelines will be posted on the Sites. Please check this
Statement periodically for changes. At the end of this document we indicate
the date of an update. The continued use of the Site(s) following the
posting of changes to this Statement will mean you accept those changes. If
there is a material change in our data collection, use or disclosure, we
will ask you to provide a new consent to continue to participate in our
programs if this updated consent is provided.
