What To Do at the Zoo!

Dolphin showExplore the Zoo & Gardens with your school group to learn more about animals from around the world. Exhibits at the Indianapolis Zoo highlight various habitats, including plains, deserts, forests and oceans. Typically, dolphin shows run daily at 10:30am and 2:30pm. During the busy spring and summer months additional shows are added - check the web site for current times or at the admissions window when you arrive. Passes are required for the dolphin shows and are issued at the admissions windows. There is no charge for the dolphin show. The doors will open 30 minutes prior to the show and will close five minutes before the show starts.

Zoo admission includes admission to the White River Gardens. All school groups can explore the variety of plants found in the outside garden areas along with visiting the Hilbert Conservatory.

shark pettingIn the Oceans exhibit, your students will have the opportunity to touch smooth dog sharks. Please share these shark petting rules with your students and chaperones prior to your field trip.

* Touch the sharks on the side only, using two fingers
* Do not grab the shark’s fins
* Splashing scares the sharks.
