Bunk for a Badge
Brownie and Junior Girl Scout Overnights
The Bunk for a Badge program is specifically designed for Juniors and Brownies! Your Scouts will have a fun time spending the night at the Zoo and
leave the next day with the badge they earned the night before. Since this
program is geared specifically toward Scouts and their parents and leaders,
we ask that you do not bring tag-alongs that are not registered as a part of
your troop. Arrival time for this program is 6pm. You may stay at the Zoo
until the Zoo closes after you finish breakfast.
When are the Bunk for a Badges offered?
The Bunk for a Badge program is available Mondays and Wednesdays in June
and August and on Tuesdays and
Wednesdays in July. Please check our
online calendar
to see what dates are still open. Once your group has decided on a date,
call (317) 630-2044 or
email edustaff@indyzoo.com to start your reservation.
How much does a Bunk for a Badge cost?
The overnight program fee is $45 per child and $25 per all adult
chaperone. (Adult chaperones are considered any teacher, parent, or
chaperone attending with any child. Your program fees include Zoo and White
River Gardens admission, parking fees, all activities, spending the night at
the Zoo, a breakfast buffet, and the badge for the girls. We require a $100
non-refundable deposit within seven days of receiving your contract. The
remainder of the payment is due in full thirty (30) days prior to the
scheduled overnight date.
What happens during the overnight?
We work on one badge per overnight. The activities we do will complete
the requirements of the badge that is chosen for that night. The first troop
to sign on to an evening will choose what badge they want to earn.

Will it just be my group on the night of the Bunk
for a Badge?
The maximum number of participants for the evening is 45. If your group
is less than 45, there could be another group joining you. However, if we
have less than 25 people total for the evening, we might have to cancel the
overnight. (Please note that we will know at least 14 days prior to the
evening if there must be a cancellation.) If you have any questions, please
include them in your email when you request your date.
Where do groups sleep?
Groups sleep on the floor in the Dolphin Gallery or Oceans. The Dolphin
Gallery is the large room that leads into the dome, but no one is allowed to
sleep in the dome. The Oceans building houses sharks, penguins, seals, sea
lions, sea horses, eels, fish, and jellies. There are bathroom facilities
inside the buildings, but there are no showers available. The Zoo reserves
the right to change your sleeping area as necessary.
