Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International
 Every
day staff and volunteers from the
Dian Fossey
Gorilla Fund International dedicate themselves to protecting
the highly endangered Mountain gorilla in Rwanda and Grauer’s gorilla in the
Democratic Republic of Congo. Studying the gorillas’ behavior, monitoring
their health and working with local communities in areas surrounding where
the animals live all result from the legacy left by Dian Fossey. Capacity
building is a foundational component of this program, meeting one of the
core criteria for funding by the Zoo.
Mike Crowther, the Zoo’s President and Chief Executive Officer, serves on
the Board of Trustees. Dr. Jan Ramer, the Zoo’s Associate Veterinarian,
wrapped up her more than two year special assignment as manager for the
Mountain Gorilla Veterinary
